Learn Korean Online Hub: read Hangul in a week

A free course that teaches you to read the Korean alphabet in a week, then daily lessons for speaking everyday Korean.

Learn Korean: a card saying hello in Korean

Korean looks hard from the outside, but its alphabet, Hangul, is one of the easiest writing systems in the world to learn. Learn Korean Online Hub starts there: a free course that gets you reading Hangul in about a week.

Step one: Hangul

Hangul has 40 letters. They sit together in blocks, each block one syllable, so once you know the letters you can sound out any word, even before you know what it means. The free Hangul course and charts take you through every letter.

Step two: one short lesson a day

Once you can read, the daily lessons teach everyday Korean a few phrases at a time. Days 1 to 7 are free.

What else is free

  • Hangul charts
  • 559 vocabulary words
  • 34 grammar points
  • 14 situation guides for everyday situations
  • The first three days of the other courses

Same method as our other language sites

Learn Korean Online Hub is part of Learn Languages Online, alongside our Japanese, Chinese and Spanish sites. They all use the same format: short daily lessons, spaced repetition review cards and situation guides. Once you know one, you know them all.
